Ralph L. Henry Office: SCEN 530 |
Degrees:
Ph.D. Kansas State University, 1991
Research Interests:
Research in the Henry laboratory is aimed at using molecular and biochemical tools to:
- Understand how proteins are delivered from their site of synthesis in the cell to their functional location within cellular organelles (Protein Targeting & Protein Transport Across Cell Membranes). Funding for this work comes from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Energy. This project is being conducted in collaboration with Dr. Suresh Kumar and Dr. Robyn Goforth (UAF).
- Develop protein expression and purification systems for the production of therapeutic proteins to be used for the treatment of drug abuse, e.g. methamphetamine abuse. Funding for this research comes from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Drug Abuse. This project is being conducted in collaboration with Dr. Joshua Sakon (UAF), Dr. Mike Owens, and Dr. Brooks Gentry (UA for Medical Sciences).
Academic Interests:
Protein targeting and transport in chloroplasts and other membrane systems.
